  • Tree limbs: make sure there are no fallen tree limbs on your roof, or hanging tree limbs. These can easily scrape over singles and loosen them. This will severely reduce the life of a roof. You can avoid this by trimming trees close to the house to avoid contact with your roof.
  • Leaves pine needles & Moss: If a few of these are collected on your roof it should not be a problem. The problem occurs when enough are collected over time they begin to hold moisture. Anything that traps moisture will cause mildew to form and can cause extra weight on your roof. To rid your roof of leaves pine needles and other debris take a rake or air blower to clean them off.
  • Gutter Damage: Heavy snow from the winter can result in gutter damage. And even worse if you didn’t clean out your gutters in the fall the old dead leaves may still be there. This can lead to clogged gutters. Before the springtime rain hits make sure to check your gutters. Water should be able to easily flow through them. Make sure to clear any clogs and fix any loose nails that are preventing the gutters from sitting along the roof line.
